Helllo and welcome to this week’s issue of The Land of Random. How are you doing this week?
It’s been a wild last week in July, with the absolutely insane prices popping off for NFT Crypto Punks. Maybe I should make that horror AI NFT playing card deck I keep thinking about. HMMMMMMMM. . . . .
Seriously, if you wanna help me make it, let me know. LOL
Don’t even get me started on the well intentioned but also Big Brother vibing Apple monitoring. Read more about that here
I discovered a really great collection of Vapor Pop last week that you gotta check out - and it’s 60 albums for less than $2. There’s even a VIBEY Vapor Christmas album - here go see it
While you’re at it, go ahead and check out these brand spankin’ new floppy disks. You heard me right - floppy disks. There’s only 9 left, so you’d better hop to it.
Oh - and vibe out over this aestheticc polaroid.
Now that we’ve hung out for a bit in the land of レ丹尸回尺山丹レヨ, let’s hop on into today’s topics
(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ Down the Rabbit hole ♥
🍅Tomato Sushi
Move over Impossible Foods! There’s a brand new show in town.
In a world where the fish are being overfished, and the ocean is becoming a trash heap, Mimic Seafood is developing a sustainable fish alternative.
When a tuna marketing executive took a bite of the dehydrated tomato seasoned with olive oil, algae extract, spices, and soy sauce early last year, he was shook. “This is going to be a problem for us,” . . . The Madrid-based startup’s Tunato product, fabricated from a specialty tomato variety grown in southern Spain that resembles sliced sushi-grade tuna in shape and size, is part of a growing class of food innovations fighting for the last empty shelf in the booming plant-based protein market: seafood.
I gotta say, this Tunato looks delicious too
If you showed me that picture and told me that was A-grade sushi, I’d have believed you in a heartbeat.
If it looks like Sushi, and tastes like Sushi - the battle is half won is it not?
It will be exciting to see who wins the war in this not meat niche.
Brands like Mimic Seafood gain a lot of their power from taglines like “Plant-based seafood that saves oceans” - especially from Millennials and Gen Z who are particularly attuned to the issue of sustainability.
Will that be enough to grow into a Billion dollar company? Who knows!

🍅Tomato Movies
Trying to figure out what to watch next? Why not consult the sacred . . .
Rotten Tomatoes???
I discovered this really neat website that lets you explore Rotten Tomatoes in a whole new way.
Basically - you pick a genre and slide the 📅, 🍿 or 🍅 score to your liking - and watch as your options populate.
Here’s an example from the horror category.
I’ve seen a few of these - but Dead Still? I’ve never heard of it! I thought I had watched almost all of the good horror comedies haha.
It’s a fun way to find some new movie gems in a quick and easy manner. Another cool feature is that you can base the slider on a particular network - like Netflix, Hulu, or Roku.
I’ll be using this at my next horror night for sure! Check it out at the link.
📝Nototo App
I’ve finally gotten access to the Nototo app! It’s like Notion - but non-lineary. Notion is awesome - don’t get me wrong. Sometimes you want something a lot simpler. Sometimes it’s as simple as the organization of notes with tags and categories.
Every time I play with Notion, I get lost in the minute details of setting up this dashboard or that kanban, setting up that cool header image . . . . rather than getting into the meat and potatoes of the work itself.
Here, your only option is meat and potatoes, so to speak.
Like Notion, you can create Workspaces - but the layout is about as simple as it gets.
There’s Categories, Notes, and Sub-categories - and you can layer them as far as you want - essentially giving you an infinite amount of complexity.
What I really appreciate about this app is the bright colors and simple rectangle. There’s no hours of time spent trying to build the perfect dashboard.
Everything is boiled down to - Which category or sub category does this note go in?
There ya go - there’s your options.
In terms of formatting options and such, there’s some basic writing commands that you can use by typing / - like bullet points, that sort of thing.
You can create a little Kanban board which is really handy - especially for keeping track of articles to write, a rough little CMS, that sort of thing.
Also - you can connect notes to one another, and group them by hashtags.
The one downside of this app is that you can’t upload images - but honestly that’s not a deal breaker for me.
Go check it out at the link, and sign up for the beta!
