Hello friends! It’s 2022 - believe it . . . or not.

Ok. I’m joking . . . mostly. These last two years have been pretty wild.

I hope you had a great New Years eve!

Thank you for continuing to read The Land of Random these last few years. It’s hard to believe that I started back in 2019 . . .

Here’s the highlights.

  • 🎇 1100 subscribers

  • 🚀 getrandominspiration.com for cool randomness

  • 🛒 The Non Linear Tools Kinopio Board

  • 🎨 the new wacky website

What’s next in store for The Land of Random in 2022?

  • 💪 Doubling to 2200 subs

  • 🎥 Youtube Videos!

  • 🎉 The Carnival (I’ll be sharing soon)

I’m very excited about all the potential in store this year. :)

Have you seen the latest season of The Witcher yet? It’s really good. (If you haven’t yet - make sure you watch the animated film that came out earlier this year. It provides quite a bit of backstory) I need to go back and play the games . . . I think I own the first one . . .

Shall we dive in?

⚡The Solar Thundertruck

yeah Teslas are cool but y batteries only last a few hundred miles?

Wouldn’t it be cool to have a EV with some solar panels?

That’s the idea behind the Thundertruck concept by Wolfgang IP. It’s designed to be an offroad adventure truck.

Behold!

It looks like a cross between something out of Halo, Batman, and the Cybertruck.

The unfoldable solar panels add a whole new level of off road. Depending on how much it can charge in the daytime - it could potentially REALLY go off road.

It was made for Outsiders, for those who choose to live and drive outside the proverbial lines. By maximizing the versatility of the EV drivetrain and combining it with the functionality of a truck, we’ve designed an innovative and versatile new multi-purpose EV that delivers superior on and off-road performance. (source)

It reminds me a lot of the Rivian EV - but kicked up a notch. The Rivian doesn’t come with a solar panel . . . or a drone

Yeah. The design includes a drone too!

The spacious cargo bed can be accessed via steps and extendable loading ramps enable loading of 2 or 4 wheel bikes. The integrated camping tent expands over the main tray, and it raises by PV trunk lid cover. There’s even a multi-purpose pull-out side draw storage unit with a slide-out kitchen or refrigerator. A matching drone flies off the roof of the vehicle to perform scouting or reiki to gauge the condition of roads ahead in unknown territory. (source)

It sounds wild now - but I could see drones becoming a part of adventure cars like these within the next decade or so.

With the press of a button the ADVEN will scout out around - keeping an eye out for cool stuff to check out, and potential threats.

Wouldn’t that be cool?

I hope the Thundertruck is picked up by a electric vehicle company! The saddest thing about awesome designs like these is that they usually stay in the realm of “fantasy designs.”

📖Public Domain 2022

It’s another year! which means more COOL stuff in the public domain.

Thousands of new works to use for new creative projects.

This all should have come out in 2002 but Congress did a 20 year pause.

Anyway, here’s a look at some of some of the awesome stuff we can use for whatever we’d like.

  • The first book of Winnie the Pooh

  • The Murder of Roger Ackwood by Agatha Christie

  • T. E. Lawrences Seven Pillars of Wisdom

  • Langston Hughes The Weary Blues

A post apocalyptic Winnie the Pooh based on the first book? The Murder of Roger Ackwood but recreated in the style of Shakespeare?

All Fair Game.

Every year is a new chance to rediscover lots of works lost to history - and bring them to new audiences.

When was the last time you even thought about the book Seven Pillars of Wisdom upon which Lawrence of Arabia is based?

It’s probably been several years.

I think I watched Lawerence of Arabia for the second time around 7 years ago??

Can’t remember. I’ve never read Seven Pillars of Wisdom but I certainly plan to try this year.

Go check out the list and explore what’s now available!

🤑Programmable Cashflow

What if your paycheck wasn’t a lump sum? What if . . . it was a continual flow of money to your account?

That would be very convenient . . . especially if you’re stretching to Payday and trying to avoid those credit cards.

Enter Superfluid - a nifty ETH protocol for continually sending money between accounts.

How does that work?

Using our new smart contracts framework on Ethereum you can transfer any token or digital asset on-chain in several ways based on a novel primitive: predefined rules that we call agreements.
By publishing a single transaction, you could agree to transfer 10 DAI per month in a constant stream. Every second, a tiny amount of DAI will flow between the two wallets, without any need for gas or any further transactions by sender or receiver. Similarly, cancellation is also only one transaction. (source)

Let’s say for example, that you have a yearly salary of $50,000 paid in USDC (Ethereum ERC20 tokens that are pegged to the value of the US dollar). Your employer could deploy a smart contract that will pay you this in a continual stream over the course of a year.

The “Money Stream” can be set up with particular conditions.

You set the flow rate of tokens, which remains constant over time. You can set a yearly, monthly, daily or hourly amount. We always convert it to the amount per second, which is the actual amount transferred between the accounts. (source)

So - you can set the flow rate - but a fractionalized amount will flow every second.

Let’s try breaking it down with a $50,000 USDC yearly salary, shall we?

  1. $50000 / 365 days in a year = $136.9863 a day

  2. 24 hours in a day x 60 minutes an hour x 60 seconds a minute = 86400 seconds a day

  3. $136.9863 / 86,400 = $0.001585 a second

So - you’ll get paid $0.001 a second - with a live updating wallet you can withdraw from at any time.

That sounds really awesome to me!
