Hey everyone! How are you doing this wonderful Monday?
Last week was WILD, wasn’t it? Wallstreetbets VS the Hedge Funds?
Glorious, Glorious memes - the tale of the little guy against the big guys. A bunch of Redditors “with memez and Lolz” trying to screw over the Hedge Fund Bros. AND the betrayal of Wallstreetbets by Discord. AND the fact that Robinhood basically ran out of money - AND didn’t tell people, COMPLETELY failing at PR - turning themselves into the Sheriff of Nottingham. AND Elon Musks glorious memes.
and Heck - I’ve barely scratched the surface. Don’t even get me started on that insane Dogecoin pump.
After 20 years of internet events where the “best” we get are the 4channers doing something nuts, Wikileaks, Lulzsec, Anonymous, or some Hackers taking down a site - Reddit came for the “real world.”
Honestly - other than Anonymous, has any internet community ever gotten this much press across the world?
R/wallstreetbets came for Hedge Funds in the last week of January.
Apparently, they’re coming for Silver to crush the banking system. Stay tuned! Will this year become a tale of the little people vs. the big scary banks and hedge funds?
Not only that - we’re now at 707 subscribers. Woohoo! Welcome to everyone who joined us last week. It’s great to have you here. Feel free to reach out and say hello by responding to this newsletter!
Well, let’s get started with this weeks topics shall we?
🚗The Return of the Delorean?
In an age where Teslas can basically drive themselves, it seems that just about anything is possible in the car world these days - including the return of the Delorean.
I don’t know about you, but I sometimes scroll through pages of used Deloreans daydreaming about buying one.
With the wave of aesthetic vibes, why not go Marty McFly?
Well, Delorean may be planning to build electric cars.
If you remember the announcement a few years ago, they planned to bring back production of the original Delorean in low quantities.
The original plan was for them to start rolling out this fall, actually.
However, due to the ole COVID-19 - plans changed. Drastically. The worst possible news ever. 😫
Some previous suppliers that we had lined up have gone out of business during the pandemic, others have been absorbed by larger companies that have made it clear low volume component production is not something they’re interested in pursuing. In that regard there will be a fair amount of work to be re-done. Perhaps worse, some “champions” we had at various suppliers have retired or moved on. (Source)
However, don’t lose all hope! Despite the utter shattering of their plans, Delorean Motors still has a path forward - and it might involve batteries.
That said, with EV’s becoming more mainstream, we’ve been considering switching to an all-electric as the future. It certainly makes for an easier path through emissions maze which still looms large over any internal combustion engine . . . As the automotive brand with likely the highest name recognition across all demographics in spite of not having a new product in 40 years, we still believe that none of the above is insurmountable and believe that others will see value in it, as well. (Source)
I sure hope we get to see a new Delorean this decade! After all, the Hummer has returned from the grave - and it can crab walk.
In the meantime, we can dream of buying brand new Deloreans someday.
And watch Two Chainz Geek out over this custom-built Delorean.
And - watch this trailer from 2016.
🎥Snyder Cut Dinner
Remember when Zack Snyder and his legion of fans managed to do the impossible and convince Warner Bros to let him create the “Synder Cut” - the true vision of the Justice League?
Yeah. We’re entering a strange world in which films are no longer considered “static works.” They get tweaked, stuff gets added. It’s happened before - but Justice League is a whole nother ballgame.
George Lucas started that party with all his tweaks to Episodes IV, V, and VI - and he’d probably still be messing around if he hadn’t sold to Disney.
Well, Snyder took it a step further - and actually did some refilming (one week in fact) for Justice League.
Heck - that even made Paul W.S. Anderson fantasize about doing some additional filming for the Sci-Fi horror masterpiece Event Horizon.
I think the only way to truly recreate the lost cut of Event Horizon, which was the original cut I presented to the studio that they were so horrified by because it was pretty extreme, I think the only way to recreate that is, actually, to shoot new material. But who knows, in the world of the Snyder Cut of Justice League? C’mon Paramount Pictures, all I need is a bit of money, and I can go and shoot all of that stuff with Joely Richardson, and Lawrence Fishburne, and Jason Isaacs. A little bit of de-aging, and we can just go shoot the whole thing again. (Source)
The Synder Cut comes out on HBO Max in March - and I plan to watch it on release date.
HOWEVER
Did you hear about the alleged $130 Box Lunch you can buy?
Here’s the menu 👇 and I gotta say - it actually sounds pretty good.
I’ve never seen anything quite like this. I’ve always seen products that tie in with movies - but never an entire meal.
It turns out - it’s an entirely new collaborative experience from Warner Bros - with the food created by Wonderland at Home.
Wonderland At Home is set to create a new event driven sector of at-home physical and digital experiences that serves super fans in an all new and innovative way. Storytelling and delicious food and drink are coupled together with sensorial moments to allow fans to connect on a deeper level with their favourite movies and TV shows like never before. Further boxed dining experiences are planned for 2021 featuring more of the most popular and beloved Warner Bros. franchises. (Source)
It’s a fascinating little trend to keep an eye on. What do you think? Will it catch on? or will this be a one-hit-wonder?
Personally - $130 is a bit too steep for me, but - then again - I’m not a die-hard DC fan. It definitely sounds pretty cool to try. I’d DEFINITELY be down to buy something like this for a new Lord of the Rings or Star Wars movie. Check out the box at the link.
🍕The Pizza Machine
When was the last time you craved a delicious piping hot slice of pizza? Was it this morning? 5 minutes ago?
Well, soon you won’t have to worry about getting it from the local Pizza Joint. You’ll be able to get it from a Pizza Vending Machine!
And no - it’s not frozen.
Meet Piestro. If you got excited about the potential profit margins of Virtual Restaurants, just wait till you see the numbers on these bad boys.
Also - check out the aesthetic of the render on this Pizza machine. I’d love to watch my pizza get made in live time.
Wait - why am I just showing you the picture? Here is the trailer. I thought it was just a render at first too - but it’s a real live working machine.
Seriously, I would love to try a pizza from this.
I’m sure there will be a lot of customization options down the road. More ingredients, sauces, etc.
Also - it’s such a easy point of entry for people looking to get into the food business.
Buy a Piestro, find a place to install it.
Have a 1-2 member team prep ingredients and know how it works
Run ads and Press.
Make the Money go Brrrr
Here’s their projected profit margins - and they look pretty dang good.
The current website is focused mainly on getting you to invest in them, but it’s still a pretty cool website. The colors and UI is really fun!
Check it out.
The Land of Random
Random links from my travels across the internet. Do you know what would be fun? a degree in Digital Archaelogy.
The Hunt for Real Pixies
Oh you want a conspiracy theory? This guy who allegedly searched for forest pixies stopped posting mysteriously. His last video ended with “I’ll see you soon, hopefully.” Here’s a video.
Running Trains on Adobe Flash
Is a bad idea. This poor Chinese Train Company discovered that their Switchboard UI stopped working the day Adobe turned off Flash. Their solution? A pirated copy of an older version. 😂
Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?
The founder of Bitcoin may never be identified, and that’s ok. This fun little article is a great brush up on all the conspiracies and what ifs.
Make Latte Art
Ever wanted to try your hand at Latte Art? Now you can. Digitally!
Beyblades on Fire
Beyblades are fun for kids, but beylades on fire are totally for adults. Watch the clip!
The Day Before
A new Zombie game that feels like a mashup of Left 4 Dead and The Last of Us? I’m in.
Epic Food Art
I can’t be the only one who wishes there was a Fast Food anime. This art is epic.
🎶TikToks You Can’t Miss
Nickelback vibing with the Sea Shanties
I want a greenhouse house surrounded by plants. You can be outside - inside.
Nope. Don’t mess with dude with Nunchucks.
I irrationally want one
I also want one of these self heating coffee cans
Noone told me about this problem. You need LED lights that DON’t create heat. Glad I haven’t made a LED light ceiling.
Until Next Time
Well, that’s all for this issue of The Land of Random. See you again next Monday. Same Time. Same Station. 😁
