Hey friends! Happy Easter!
Happy April Fools Day too - I won’t be playing any tricks on you this time like Gary last year.
Hope you had a great weekend with your friends and family.
Are you going to watch the eclipse on April 8?
Here in Tennessee, we’ll only see a partial eclipse, but I’ll take it!
As always - companies are getting into the theme - so you can buy Sunchips that are only available during the Eclipse - and the Sonic Blackout Slushie.
Since the AI timeline is accelerating rapidly towards the reality of AI waifus, I have to mention the Hume AI demo. The AI voices are getting emotional intelligence anon, and it sounds pretty dang good.
I leave that here for you to muse upon.
In personal news, I’m trying to use a phone without social media, and one with social media.
Of course, I’m not carrying around 2 phones everywhere, but I’m trying to experiment with Trung Phan’s idea of a “Cocaine phone” and a “Kale phone.”
In a nutshell, the idea is that one phone is for dopamine, and the other is for serotonin.
I have my own twist on the idea I’ll share after concluding my experiment.
Here - read the article for more context.
I’ll let you know how it goes!
🚢Remembering the McBarge
Once upon a time, in a Canadian city far, far away - there was a floating McDonalds.
(different from the Mcdonalds riverboat in Missouri)
(or the Mcdonalds train I wrote about back in 2021)
It was built for the World’s Fair in Vancouver in 1986 (Expo 86).
It had an 80’s feel, of course. You can practically hear the Vaporwave coming out of this picture below.
Wait hold on a sec - let’s set the mood . . . here’s a Mcdonalds themed playlist.
People thought it was pretty cool - you can find stories from diners on Reddit.
Unfortunately, Mcdonalds was not able to find a permanent home after the Expo ended, so it languished abandoned and alone in a inlet near Burnabay, British Columbia.
It became the haunt of many an urban adventurer over the years, and even official tours with the owner!
Though there’s been many promises of reuse and refurbishment (a development project, or a seafood restaurant) the only time we’ve really seen it outside of interviews or urban explorers is . . . .
Blade Trinity. LOL
Want to keep exploring? Here’s a fun recent reddit conversation.
and the Bright Sun films about it are pretty good!
🪑Find Cheap Furniture
I don’t buy that much furniture, but I can’t say no to playing around with a cool tool.
Dupe lets you take any furniture item URL (Wayfair or others) and find similar items.
The goal being that you find a cheaper price.
For example let’s take this random bean bag chair and plug it in.
Here’s the results it found. Lots of covers, but definitely more ideas to explore.
However - bean bag keyword optimization SUCKS so let’s try something else.
Soooo - I tried this industrial desk lamp.
andddd it gave me way cheaper options!
I think this website will end up making some serious waves in the furniture, once it starts gaining adoption. Based on the Twitter account, I think that’s where they’re going.
Who buys dupe.com without serious plans . . .
Who wouldn’t give Dupe a shot just to see if they can save some $$$?
Check it out!
🖥More Cool Software
Here are a few neat-looking things to keep an eye on, or try!
Picotron - Make pixelart games, animations, and more in this epic workstation. It’s a really unique tool!
Feel Muddy - Oooh. An intriguing workspace app. It’s some kind of multiplayer web browser built from the foundation of the fantastic nototo builds. I’m deeply intrigued.
Playbit - What does it mean to be a fourth-generation operating system? Guess we’ll have to find out . . .
Daylight Co - I mentioned this the other week, but i’m gonna mention it again. A tablet without blue light!
Playtron - Not sure what will come of this, but it promises to be a cool gaming OS designed for Steam Decks and other handheld gaming pc’s. It promises to play all your games. (Hmmm).
Looi Robot - Honestly, this reminds me a lot of “desktop robot” stuff we saw in the mid 2000’s. Keep an eye on this just to see if it lives up to the hype, or ends up being vaporware. There are reviews though - so I want to believe?

Do You Miss Flash Animations?
I do. Fortunately, we still have z0r.de to guide us. Possible NSFL/NSFW content since it’s an old site . . . consider this link a 4chan equivalent. The video linked below is great though. Fun fact - most of the Disqus comments are 12 years old.

Yahoo for Creators
Yahoo is creating a new platform for writers to share stories! Interesting . . . .
Mcdonalds Vaporwave
Just in case you didn’t get enough from the McBarge - get 50 minutes of McDonalds ads + Vaporwave to vibe out to.
Hotel 626
I had never heard the legend before, but apparently Doritos sponsored an online horror game - and mysteriously took it offline after two years.
Neeto
This collection of useful marketing / small business tools has an eye opening amount of free options. like. wow. WOW. I need to do some more digging into this, and test some of these.
