šRelive the old internet, Amazon's Experimental Products, and Cyberpunk Vibes
Musical Netrunners Inbound
Hey everyone! Hope youāre doing well this week.
I have to make a retraction this week - the dark blend Coke with Coffee is surprisingly good when chilled sufficiently. I had a second can that I put in the fridge for a long time - and it tasted great!
Pretty sad about Daft Punk, am I right? Iām sad to see them go after so long . . .
Oh - If youāre in the mood for some found-footage horror, hereās two new suggestions.
Willow Creek is a fun film. Thereās a long scene involving a tent and listening for outside noises that is surprisingly unsettling.
Frankensteinās Army is a B grade campy WWII horror film thatās pretty hilarious. Thereās some terrifying nightmare monsters WITHOUT horrible CGI - as many B movies tend to have these days.
Have you ever been to one of those āBinā stores? There are dozens of bins with old Amazon items - ranging from old sports memorabilia to toys, grilling accessories, and lots of other random stuff. Everything is only $5 at this one. Itās a wild place!
Speaking of wild - letās take a look at todayās topics, shall we?
Grab an espresso and letās go!
šRelive The Old Internet
I miss the simplicity and creativity of the old internet, donāt you?
Fortunately, Webflow is leading the way with creative sites - a fact Iām very happy about.
I found this fun little site called āThe Old Netā that makes a fun jump into the nostalgia of the ancient internet.
Here, you gotta check it out.
I think we often forget just how bare-bones the internet was back then - basically just HTML.
My favorite part of the site is the Guest Posts section. I honestly hope some of these are real. Windows XP on a 2006 Imac?
Heck, maybe I need to sign it from my old PSP . . .
You can also type in websites to see what they looked like in a particular year. Like Amazon in 2002! If you get a chance, check out Walmart too, Apple, or whatever youād like to see!
Check out these ancient vibes.
If youād like to recreate some old internet vibes, Iāve got a few recommendations for you.
You can make crazy sites with Hot Glue. Either make your own site or install it on your webserver. Check it out here.
If you have an Apple product, check out the E.gg app by Facebook. Itās a really neat free form site builder. Check it out here
This neat website builder is coming out soon too.

š¦Amazonās Experiments
Weāve officially made it to a weird place with Amazon Alexa products.
Yeah, the Alexa drone is pretty out there. . . .
However, Amazon has decided to take it to the next level. Theyāve decided to make YOU vote with your money on what sort of strange Alexa gadgets they should make.
From a 40,000 foot level Iām honestly wondering if some of their Alexa gadgets have flopped in terms of sales - so theyāre trying to gauge consumer sentiment.
For example - how many people are buying Alexa microwaves? or the Echo Auto?
Asking consumers what they are interested in is often a good way to find out what they actually want - and will shell out money for.
Hereās the first three.
The one that makes the most sense to me is the nutrition scale. Thatās actually kinda cool. The Cuckoo Clock and Sticky Note Printer are kinda weird. (Interestingly, the sticky note printer has already hit its goal).
Whatās the target audience for a Smart Cuckoo Clock? Iām not sure.
I do know Iāll be skipping this first iteration of the Build it program - but Iām excited to see what they come up with next!
Check out the launch page!
And get your Sticky Note Machine?
š¤Cyberpunk Vibes
Iām excited to finally share this awesome website with you. Itās called Night.fm, and itās a really sick Cyberpunk Radio site.
Now - if youāre not familiar with Cyberpunk music - Think Tron - but usually darker. It can be described as industrial electronic music, like the stuff in the Matrix.
Think of it as dystopian lo-fi
Also - the design of night.fm is amazing. From the loading screen like some kind of Hacker OS to the music visualizer that beats in time with the music - itās an awesome vibe.
The creator - Circuit - has a very good eye for creating a futuristic music player. Well done! We need more cool sites like this on the net.
I wish Soundcloud or Spotify released some kind of awesome Music Visualizer site creator or something. I really think it could take the current culture of lofi radio to the next level.
These days, we only have brave souls like Circuit or Marty from Poolside.FM figuring out the world of APIās to make music fun.
It works great on mobile - but the desktop is the best experience.
Check it out - and get listening!
Wearing all black with neon lights in the background is not required but heavily encouraged.
