Hello friends! How are you this wonderful Monday?
Christmas is just two weeks away - and I’ve been watching some of the classics.
Die Hard, A Charlie Brown Christmas . . .
Yes friends, I do believe Die Hard is a Christmas movie, rather than just a movie that takes place at Christmas.
Are you ready for the Book of Boba Fett AND the Matrix? Have you watched Expanse season 6 yet?
The book of Boba Fett is gonna be GREAT. This meme expresses my excitement ever since the end of Mandalorian season 2.
Hopefully he’ll be some kind of cool anti-hero or something.
Who knows! Maybe we’ll get to see some more familiar faces from the movies / books.
Let’s dive in, shall we?
🥩Meet New Friends over Meals
There’s apps for dates, finding platonic friends, and for meeting up about bitcoin.
However, there hasn’t been much in the way of meeting new friend groups . . .
That’s where Join Okel comes in.
It’s basically a matchmaking service to introduce you to new friends via the wonderful medium of food
Get matched to dine in a small group with cool people who share your interests, favorite cuisines, and times of availability at a local restaraurant . . . Nurture your conversation with the questions you each submitted at sign-up and which can be referenced on the app for all users. (source)
Doesn’t that sound wayyyy better than going to a bar or a random meetup?
Food is a powerful force when it comes to conversation. It’s easy to find common ground over a dish or drink.
Not to mention - the questions serve as a good reference for beginning conversation about a topic.
If you end up having a great chat, you can follow up for more meals! I hope it becomes as popular as Meet Up did, especially in this Post-Covid world. I think a lot of people are pretty lonely after staying holed up for months in their homes last year.
Honestly, I think we’ll see a lot more of these kinds of apps pop up in the next few years. Millennials are beginning to age out of the party scene. We’re getting old. The youngest is like 25 - which means maybeee still in their masters degree.
At the moment it looks like it in beta in NYC, but you can join the waitlist!
Check it out.
🏠Lego Furniture
Sometimes I really do sit and ponder . . .
Why in the world does cheap furniture exist when it exists only for a few short years just to languish in dumps forever?
Case in point. Dormroom dumpsters on the last day of the school year.
Why can’t all furniture just be reusable lego style blocks?
It would make moving so much simpler.
Well Lego is beginning to offer a bit of furniture, one drawer at a time.
It’s a little lego drawer, and it’s stackable too!
Ok, so that’s one drawer - what if you want to build a desk?
Well, that’s where we gotta step outside official lego - and go to the land of Everblocks.
Everblocks is a modular building system that you can apply to your home - from desks to couches, beds, and walls!
Heck, you could probably build anything you need from Everblocks
like seats!
Wouldn’t that be fun?
If you want to create something else, just rearrange the blocks.
There’s a ton of available kits - including ones for kids.
Go check out Everblocks at the link!
🚙Vintage Hyundai
Do you long for a cool vintage style car you don’t have to take to the shop every month?
I had a 1992 Pontiac Sunbird several years ago - I loved the car - but it always needed work.
You might be in luck . . . cuz Hyundai has created an absolutely beautiful retro inspired electric car and it might just go into production in a few years. (source)
I know I tend to write about things that don’t usually hit the mainstream news, but I couldn’t resist this beautiful electric neo-noir style car.
From a glance it looks like it came straight out of the 80’s, but it’s incredibly high tech.
Those lights in the front? They’re little LED lights!
Inside? There’s a massive screen across the dashboard that displays the car speed and all that good stuff.
Wouldn’t that be awesome to play your music on? Streaming Spotify would be an absolute blast.
Even better, the car is designed for audiophiles.
The designers incorporated the 4way4 sound system developed by South Korean sound designer Guk-il Yu that controls the 18-speakers. The audio system delivers rich sound with magnificent clarity and deep bass thanks in part to the composition of Grandeur’s center console and dashboard, which are designed based on concert hall acoustic theory. I’d love to play some dope synthwave in this car . . . if it does go into production in a few years, I REALLY hope the car has visualizers that play during the music.
If you’d like a more detailed tour of the car - make sure you watch this video.
Until it comes out (if it ever comes out) I guess I’ll be satisfied with listening to Synthwave. 😎

This interesting website shows you just how big some of those namesake brands are. There’s only a few brands at the moment, but intriguing nonetheless.
