Hey Everyone! Weāre just a few days till Christmas! š š
And the end of the Decade - Wow. What a thought. Itās hard to believe we are almost 20 years past the year 2000. Time flies!
I hope you have some time off this week to spend time with family and friends. Life is busy, work takes over - but we cannot forget about them. They are important - The demands of our busy schedules can wait.
However - it can be difficult to think of things to do with family other than just staring at our phones and making small talk. Itās unfortunate but true. This is the state of many families this Holiday Season. Screens have consumed our lives -and completely changed how families interact.
Everyone stares at their screens - lost in their own little worlds. The years pass, everyone grows older - but what memories were made? š¤
So - Iām doing something a bit different with this weekās Newsletter. Iāll be hitting a few topics/websites Iāve talked about previously, but with an emphasis on using them in a new way!
Rather than let the phones consume us - we can use them to generate conversation, laughs, and moments we can remember.
Itās worth a shot at least, isnāt it? Trying to repurpose our screen time when we are with family?
š®Return to Giphy Arcade
Letās briefly return to this weird and wonderful website. Giphy Arcade lets you remix classic game templates with wacky stickers. You could introduce Giphy Arcade, share the link, and explain that itās a fun little way to make mini-games. This site has one main advantage over many other game makers.
It is essentially frictionless. It is very simple to go from the main page to playing a rediculous little mini-game. Other game building sites like Koji are amazing - but pretty complex. Itās easy for people to lose interest and return to scrolling Instagram.
Here are several ideas to introduce the app to your family.
1). Make a game and share it. Tell them to beat your score.
2). Share the website and challenge them to a game making competition.
šThe Ole Talk to Transformer
The easiest way to break people out of āIntroverted Phone Scrollingā is showing them something completely out of the norm. Something Wild - and Crazy. Whatās better than a AI Text generator that will literally say the craziest things?
Talk To Transformer is perfect for family gatherings because it is so amusing. Of course, there is the possibility that it will say something inappropriate (itās totally random, after all) - so this website is far better for an older crowd.
Here are a few ideas on how to effectively use Talk to Transformer at a family gathering
1). See who gets the craziest responses from the AI.
2). Try to create a story using different prompts - Have everyone put in a different sentence, and see if you can make a coherent story.
3). Crazy Poetry - Put in some Poetry and see what the AI comes up with. See who has the best poem.
4). Have everyone type in the same question - and see what the Text Generator says to each person.
Remember - Have Fun!
šØInstapainter - or Crazy Pictures
Everyone loves editing their photos - so this site should be an easy sell. Thereās a fun little website called Instapainting where you can upload pictures and apply fun artsy filters. You donāt have to sign up, download a app - just go to the link and upload a picture or two. Itās pretty fun!
Ideas
1). See who can get the best picture - (These Filters can look a little weird)
2). Have everyone choose the same filter and see who has the best (or worst) picture.

The Land of Random
Market to Tribes - not Boomers and Millenials
Generational Marketing is so passe! Instead, you should be focusing your efforts on marketing to tribes and niches - Gamers, Hipsters, Street Style Savants, and hundreds of others. Make Your Own App
Iāve mentioned a few app builders on this newsletter - but I think this one looks the most practical so far. Donāt expect to build the next Uber though - Adalo is more of a app builder for a Restaurant/Food Truck/Appointments/Convention kind of niche. Itās kinda neat - and could be very practical depending on your industry. Check it out.
Krampus Time!
Whatās that? You donāt know about Krampus - the demon cursed to help Santa every Christmas? Itās a fascinating little European tradition. Here is a video of some people dressed up as Krampuses. Quite terrifying!
