Hey friends!
How’s your HALLOWEEN going?
This is Halloween, This is Halloween . . .
Hope you have some fun plans with your friends and family - We’re having some friends over who we haven’t seen in FOREVER - so we’re quite excited.
Last week was pretty wild - I was honestly surprised that Elon actually bought Twitter. It’s the most fun I’ve had on social media since TikTok in 2017 - back when it was cool.
Those people trolling reporters that they were fired Twitter Employees - that felt like some sort of 4Chan throwback.
Anywayyyyyyy - did you see that House of Dragons finale? So good! I’m excited to watch the next season in 2 years.
I’ve discovered the delightful existence of snap out card kits and have been busily printing X wings with my 3D printer. They’re very fun to give out as gifts!
Thanks for filling out that poll last week - I now know I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me ahahahahahahahaha. I’ll be sharing my “value stack” soon - maybe even with a Gary Halbert style ad.
Let’s dive in, shall we?
💿Explore Old Files
Sooo you know how the Internet Archive has MILLIONS of files?
Over the years - users have uploaded files to Internet Archive - and there they sit - unexplored by most - but preserved as long as the storage holds out.
NOW - you can explore them at your leisure . . . on DISCMASTER!!
It’s like a digital treasure hunt - and there’s all sorts of crazy stuff to explore.
It’s very intuitive too - much like exploring files in an old laptop you found . . . you never know what you might find.
With that in mind - NSFW content has been labeled as such but since there’s tons of random files . . . well, you never know.
There’s tons of Gif collections, old games, educational software, and other dusty old things to explore.
For example - i found a collection of Gifs/images (Gif Galaxy) that range from the bizarre - like this 3D Stonehenge . . .
to the cute . . . like this Doggo
i’m sure there’s obscure stuff in this Gif Galaxy iso that hasn’t been seen in years.
People are finding all sorts of fun things - like entire anime fansites from 1998 or old game discussions.
My favorite part so far is using the search function. With it you can search alll the files with keywords of your choice.
I found this Japanese Spiderman song - which SLAPS.
This fun little Star Wars animation
With over 118 million files to explore (and more being added every day) Discmaster is a fantastic way to explore tons of obscure media from the 90’s and early 2000’s.
Check it out!
👁 Anti-Distraction Tech
There’s nothing worse than trying to crank out a project when you’re completely exhausted.
The urge to surf the net on Hacker News, TikTok, or Twitter is strong - rather than stay on the task and get it done.
Enter Pomo.
Pomo is an anti-distraction tool to keep you focused by blocking all those time-sucking sites.
Unlike other tools - this one is a really cool physical way to stay on track.
The internet is full of rabbit holes. Websites like Instagram are designed to let you waste more time on them. You know this. Now it's time to take action. In an ideal world I personally would delete all time wasting apps. But for me and probably you too, that's not the reality. Pomo is made to change the way we interact with distractions, blocking them when we don't want them. In a friendly and physical way. (souce)
Just create your own blacklist of sites to block, choose the amount of time on the slider - and voila! you’re now unable to visit those sites.
I believe it’s based on or connected to the SelfControl app on the backend. It’s a free Mac app that will lock down websites, your email, or anything else on the net.
It’s a nifty idea that I’ve seen iterations of with different software - but never a physical tool.
It may just encourage us to follow through in a way that opening software and clicking a button doesn’t.
Pomo isn’t out for sale yet - but I’m intrigued to hear more about it.

🎶 NFC Music Cards
There’s Baseball cards . . . Pokemon Cards . . .
What about collectible music cards?
A startup called Community Musician hopes to invent a new vertical for musicians looking for a new revenue stream - with NFC music cards.
“The card enables fans to enjoy and display the collectible artwork of the band and the convenience of ‘tap to play’ on their phone. Tapping the card on the phone also adds the song to the fan’s ‘private’ library in the Community Musician app so fans don’t have to carry the card to listen to songs if they don’t want to,” Community Musician explains. (source)
It’s an intriguing idea - one that I fear may have too much friction in terms of adoption.
Here’s some mockups I found on Twitter
Honestly - I think the strongest selling point these could have is the art. If the art is a collectible “1 in 10,000” I could see people buying them for cool art - and seeing the song as a cool bonus.
OR
The NFC cards could have particular song versions that you can’t buy online - like a live recording of a hit from a particular concert.
Those are the kinds of winning angles I could see - and hopefully there’s some sort of baseball card form factor too. I see the big cards in the picture - but those don’t scream “collectible” at me.
Do you think collectible NFC music cards have a chance at success?

Doom + Half Life
The combination of two classic games into one? Why nottt. It’s apparently pretty spot on in meshing up the two styles! I gotta give this a spin when I get a chance . . .
Photopea’s Success
I’ve always loved Photopea - it’s a free web design tool that you can IMPORT Adobe files into. Perfect for fixing something last minute if you have access to a PSD. This is a fascinating article about its success.
Peter Rabbit’s Revenge
I love Beatrix Potter, but a dystopian version WOULD be fascinating. Mr. McGregor and his traps against a guerrilla war fought by Peter Rabbit and his friends . . .Check out more of Sail Lin’s artwork here.

I feel like that house was abandoned before COVID.
Why doesn’t Burger King do this in the USA? All the Millennials and Gen Z love anime.
