š„ Do you even hotpot bro?
hotpots are awesome
Hey friends! Welcome to this weekās edition of The Land of Random.
Did you hear about Digg? shut down again!
All possibly due to SEO bots. I was quite intrigued by the platform - there were definitely people who actually wanted the platform to succeed.
and there were lots of people trying to ALSO get digg ālink juiceā for SEO.
Have you been seeing all the nostalgia about mini laptops like the Sony Vaio Micro-PC? (hereās an old deepdive).
The nostalgia machine is REALLY churning now . . . the Rabbit (yes the Rabbit R!) company is creating a cyberdeck in the style of the old netbooks.
I still have my old acer netbook - I canāt even get the thing to turn on anymore.
Oh! and donāt even get me started on the 2009 Panasonic Viera.
So many PEAK designs back then - and what do we have now? rectangular slabs . . . everywhere.
All this nostalgia has got me thinking a lot about the kind of āaestheticā impact the iPhone had on technology . . . Iāll be writing a piece soon.
In good news - the Myrient ROM database was backed up - hundreds of terabytes of old games - saved!
In random news . . . angelfire seems to be back online. It was down for a while. (remember angelfire?)
Letās hop in!
š„ I dream of HotPots
We donāt have many hotpot options around Middle Tennessee.
One of my favorite restaurant experiences in the last decade was going to a hotpot place down in Nashville. It was incredible - and delicious.
A few more have opened since - and theyāre on my short list to go when I get a chance. With four kids itās a lot of work to manage them with boiling soup in the middle of the table.
I recently stumbled across Hmartās hotpot kit.
Yāall - I had no idea this existed. This is awesome.
It comes with soup bases, noodles, an awesome pot, and more. You can buy it online!
Itās apparently only $20 when you buy it in-store.
Iāve been fascinated with these kinds of kits for years now - but never saw one for sale before in the USA. (Most of what I see is only available in Japan, South Korea, or China).
Even a cursory search for āhot pot kitsā surfaces just this Goldbelly kit or an eBay hotpot kit.
Thereās . . . not a lot of online options, so the Hmart option really jumped out at me.
Iām quite jealous of all the cool stuff they sell overseas.
For example - watch this video by Dancing Bacons. I really wish we had this kind of stuff in the States. Iād eat them . . . way too often.
Dancing Bacons has a TON of good videos - i highly recommend his content.
Hereās another fun video - a ācamping hotpotā experience! so fun.
What about hot pot at home - you say?
Yes - I need to give it a shot. Thereās plenty of guides out there like this one.
SO - you in the mood for hotpot now?
šThe Land of Random
Strange and mysterious links from the internet.

Ever want to explode a nebula with your cursor? Thisāll be the most entertaining 30 seconds of today.
Channelsurfer
Itās Youtube - but in the style of Cable TV. Very interesting!
Dead Internet is Here
more evidence for your review
Typewriter Keyboard
No no - itās actually a keyboard that looks a little like a typewriter, and it looks awesome.
Scrolllllllll
scrolllllllllllllll foreverrrrrrr
Gif Manga
The most incredibly unhinged manga youāll ever read. ever. music, sound effects, scrolling super fast . . .
Portable Coldbrew
In addition to being a good PDP landing page - this actually looks like an interesting product. Theyāre little portable nitro cold brew cartridges you just add to water for cold brew on the go.
Enclose Horse
Can you enclose the horse so he canāt escape??
Thatās all for this week! see you next time.
