Heyyyyyy friends, and welcome to this week’s edition offff - The Land of Random
I’m proud to say that we crossed the 1900 mark just a few days ago.
WOOHOO! We are almost to the 2K mark.
Last week was a wild one - my YT account got suspended for some unknown reason - and I got it back after an appeal.
I was like - YO i’m just reviewing random Aliexpress stuff - I ain’t trying to sell nothing.
So - I got it back.
I’ve also been baking with my daughter - last week we made bagels and biscuits from scratch. I’ve found that baking is a great way to spend quality time with my almost 3 year old daughter - because my almost 2 year old son LOVES to destroy all towers, tea parties, and whatever else we play with.
The bagels were my favorite of the two recipes. I’m gonna try and make them again this week!
Just look at these delicious bagels. They’d make
If you have any good bread recipes - send em my way please - I’m looking for more fun things to bake with her.
Anyway - I also ordered a used Google Pixel 6 Pro from Back Market - and based on that price alone - I may never buy another brand new electronic again . . .
Still waiting for it to get here. I’ll let you know what I think of its condition.
ALSO - Severance is a fantastic show on Apple - we binged it in 4 days AND WE CANNOT WAIT FOR SEASON 2.
It’s a spin on that scifi story where people have split personalities between work and home.
It’s a slow burn - but worth every minute.
Let’s hop in shall we?
💀Become a Pirate
rrrrrr ye ready Mateys?
It’s time to be a’ pirating.
Brazil is planning to literally YEET a warship in international waters - and not just any warship - their BIGGEST warship.
The São Paulo, a 60-year-old aircraft carrier, has been floating abandoned in the South Atlantic Ocean for five months.
Weighing 34,000 tons and reaching a length of 870 feet, it's the largest Brazilian warship in existence. Brazil sold the ship to a Turkish scrapyard to be dismantled, per Time, and it started sailing to Turkey in August, but it was not allowed to dock in the country. Turkish authorities said the ship had asbestos, a toxic material commonly found in ships made in the 20th century. (source)
If they end up abandoning the ship - one could hypothetically take it over with a crew and become a pirate.
Or become some sort of floating small nation.
I know - the ship is full of asbestos - but maybe there could be a way to live safely on it?
At the very least - it’s a cool idea.
Eccentric billionaire patches up old abandoned aircraft carrier and turns it into a floating island nation, complete with its own resources, currency, and defenses.
People have always dreamed of floating cities - whether it be the old Freedom Ship vision - or the more modern “Seasteading” movement.
There’s actually a few Seasteading projects pursing development - you can check them out here. SURELY one of these will make it.
The fantasy of piracy is always fun to discuss - but has been largely dead since the 1700-1800s in the “fun way.”
Pirates today are speed boats with sensors, RPG’s and 50 cals’ hoping to make a quick buck off a passing ship.
They’re a serious threat in some places - but operate in a very different style compared to the 1700-1800’s.
They’re more akin to a sophisticated bank robbery - rather than a ship sailing the ocean looking for an unsuspecting victim.
HOWEVER - shows like Black Lagoon always show the possibility of what piracy could look like in more modern times.
If you’ve been craving a more modern piracy tale - Black Lagoon is a fantastic show to start with.
Then - all I’ve got for you is maybe that “The Last Ship” show.

🗺️Kosmik Mind Mapping
There’s a new mind mapping player in town - and I think it might just end up being a serious threat to the “status quo.”
Kosmik isn’t your typical mind-mapping software - like Miro the Mainstream - or Kinopio the Fun.
It has a few features I haven’t really seen work well in other platforms.
There’s all the typical “mind map” fixins’ - cards, photos, files, text, post-its - BUT it has embeds straight out of the box
AND
you can browse the web directly in your mindmap.
That’s a pretty killer feature.
Hypothetically - you could do more tasks in one space this way -using Kosmik as a “catch all” tool
Bookmark manager in this square - Twitter over here -my research into this obscure topic over in this square . . .
Oh - I forget to mention - you can literally drag images + words DIRECTLY from your web browsing card TO your mind map.
YEAH
At the moment - they have fully developed Mac + iPad apps - and the web version is still in alpha. I’m waiting for the Windows app before I start diving in.
They also plan to add live collaboration soon - which is AWESOME.
Honestly - there’s only three features that Kosmik needs to become a massive competitor in the mindmapping space - API access (ideally ifttt, zapier too) - some sort of mobile version with a bookmarking capability - and a tagging feature.
I’d love to replace Raindrop with this tool in the future - and use Kosmik to augment my weekly research. The “dream” so to speak - would be doing everything in one central space - from research to writing.
There’s a good chance Kosmik could pull this off.

🥳Partiful - Party Planning
Tired of using those olddd apps like evite to plan an event or party?
Partiful is a brand new party planning platform that I discovered recently - and it’s really fun to use!
It’s designed for the Millennial / GenZ crowd - which tends to increase usability and “whimsy.”
For example - here’s evite with its 2017 Squarespace minimalism
and here’s Partiful with a a nice, crisp CTA (call to action) on the main page
It’s really easy to use - you just enter the details, and send off an RSVP - people can leave comments, gifs, and signal whether they’re coming or not with one giant emoji.
And you can get complicated too - with questionnaires and “chip ins” for venmo/Cash app.
It’s geared as being an easy web app to use or interact with - you can upload photos from the party too!
Clean - Clean vibes. It looks even better on Mobile. My favorite theme is the version that has doges floating alllll over the screen. Now all it needs is some beats . . .
I’m gonna try and use it for our Super Bowl party. :)

🕸️The Land of Web3*
*A sponsoredish promotion of Titles. I’m quite intrigued by the platform!
I got a chance to check out a product from TITLES early recently. It's called SOURCE and it makes cryptomedia discovery very “instagram UI/UX friendly” through displaying NFTs through wallet activity like burns, buys, sells, and mints.
I asked Soren, one of their founders, where they're taking it and he explained how they're building a new engine to power onchain creativity - to make it easy for anyone to create and publish onchain media like memes, narrative content, and art -- all from your phone!
While SOURCE makes it easy to find "alpha" through tracking activity, it also serves as an inspiration and "sourcing" layer for raw materials for creation.
So how do you get access? They have a free NFT mint launching this Tuesday that gets you priority access to their products. You can subscribe to them on Mirror or follow them on Twitter to stay tuned!
🎵TikToks You Can’t Miss
