đż The Resurrection of Popcorn Time, Watch Netflix with friends, and Frothy Cream Coffee!
Oh - I had a baby!
Greetings everyone! Itâs been a really big week.
My first baby was born on Wednesday! I am now the proud father of a beautiful baby girl named Louisa. Iâm so excited about this new chapter of life.
Experiencing a hospital on lockdown was interesting (and slightly terrifying). The rules around visitors changed daily. There were âCoronavirus checkpointsâ where they checked your temperature. It was all a bit unnerving - I was legitimately worried I wouldnât be allowed back into âsecureâ areas if the visitation policy changed to NO visitors.
Iâm glad we were able to leave on Friday!
Coronavirus is getting pretty serious out there. Other than emerging from my apartment to buy groceries, I will be staying inside until this thing blows over. I recommend you do as well. I hope things do not escalate.
đż The Resurrection of Popcorn Time
Most of the time I share things that I believe are worth checking out. This is one of the few things that I believe you should NOT check out (unless you like living on the edge and youâre skilled at hiding your identity and youâre willing to risk getting sued by the movie industry). I merely think such things are interesting.
What is Popcorn Time you ask? Itâs basically âBootleg Netflix.â It hosts tens of thousands of movies, tv shows, and other video content through old fashioned torrenting. You donât have to download the torrents - you just stream them online.
Itâs 100% âfreeâ and its greatest advantage is ease of use. Unlike Pirate Bay or other torrenting sites, you donât have to hunt for good copies that are virus-free. You just stream anything youâd like to watch just like Netflix. The UI is clean and friendly.
Popcorn Time is the platform we all wish was legal. Just as Spotify cleared the path for unlimited streaming of most music, we all hoped that some TV platform would clear the way.
We may never see that day. Instead - itâs almost beginning to feel like Cable again.
You need Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney Plus and HBO Max just to have access to most content. Nevermind Shudder, Crunchyroll, and the plethora of other streaming services. Where is our âone platform for everything?â đ
Hereâs the announcement from Twitter. Notice the timeliness of the announcement in conjunction with Coronavirus.
đș Watch Netflix with Friends online
Well, youâre stuck at home and you miss your friends. Why not watch Netflix with them online? Thatâs right! Use this free Chrome extension to virtually hang out with your friends and watch Netflix. Itâs a pretty neat app, and itâs a great way to virtually hang out with your friends and family during our several weeks - to perhaps months-long quarantine.
Get it here for FREE at the official website! Check it out at the link!
However, if you want to use something other Netflix, let me draw your attention to a different app. Want to create chatroom with your friends? screenshare what youâre watching (something other than Netflix?) watch funny Youtube together? work together remotely?
Check out Kosmi. Itâs an online digital hangout creation platform. Itâs very simple to use - just a few clicks and youâre done! Check it out at the link.
â Frothy Cream Coffee
Most of the time when I watch cooking videos - it gets a bit too complex for my liking. One minute in it seems doable, but by the fourth minute, my eyes are glazing over at step 30. However, I think I found a recipe that is so simple itâs worth trying.
Itâs called âFrothy Cream Coffeeâ and it has 3 simple ingredients - instant coffee, sugar, and milk.
It started in South Korea and itâs been blowing up on Tiktok. Iâm giving you two things to watch - a popular South Korean video (with a touch of ASMR if you like that sort of thing), and a TikTok that boils it all down (haha) quite simply.
Heck, Iâm going to look around my pantry to see if I have any Instant coffee . . .
đ The Land of Random
Iâve got some good stuff for you this week!
đ Elephant
Need a basic note-taking app? Thereâs a really cool application called Elephant thatâs open-source and free! Check out a detailed description of it at the link!
đ« GTFO - A new Left 4 Dead style game
Do you miss the good old days of Left 4 Dead - that classic 4 player cooperative shooter? It was good stuff! Thereâs a new one coming out (itâs in early release on Steam) called GTFO that looks really spooky and fun! It feels like a mix of Left 4 Dead and Metro.
đŒ Remove Video Backgrounds in a Click!
This one is pretty neat. It lets you remove the backgrounds from videos in one click! Itâs not perfect, but it works pretty well. Check it out at the link!
đ€ Cowboy Social Media
This touched my heart. The head of the Cowboy Museum security team was asked to run Social Media during the closure. He clearly is no social media expert, but his attempts are great. Check it out!
