What’s up everyone! It’s another crazy week in May.
Seriously - every week gets crazier. Like the idea that Bezos might become a trillionaire in a few years.
or that Facebook bought Giphy on Friday. Seriously, Zuck, my man, please stop buying stuff. You own FB, IG, and a host of other epic things.
Also - holding my two-month-old baby is pretty wild too! She’s so precious. It’s still hard to believe that I’m a Dad.
And it’s been two months already. Wow!
Let’s get started with the fun stuff. Grab a double espresso and let’s get to it.
🍣 The $800 Sushi Box
This question never struck me until I saw this Eater article about an $800 Sushi Box meal. What do super fancy restaurants do when a Pandemic shuts down everything?
Well, NY Sushi restaurant Masa decided to embrace a takeout box in order to serve customers - and they took it to the next level.
It ain’t no plastic box and set of wooden chopsticks.
Here - here’s a picture from Eater.
This is one of the most beautiful Sushi Boxes I’ve ever seen! It’s designed to serve 4 people, and only 20 boxes a week are offered - which is some insane exclusivity.
This is a brilliant marketing move in a pretty dark time for restaurants. An epic Sushi feast that’s highly sought after and super-exclusive? That definitely will move sales, even during a pandemic.
I know things are starting to lighten up in a lot of the states, but how could normal restaurants tap into something like this?
Here’s one idea that popped into my head. Perhaps some special family meals with a cap on how many are available a day. “An affordable $25 feast for you and your family - only 30 available a day. We’re cooking up some recipes that won’t be seen again once we reopen. Hurry! Order yours now!” (And oh boy it comes in cool packaging with a handwritten note. It’s all about making that powerful and special moment, right?)
A lot of restaurants are getting outside the box to drive sales - I hope they’re adding some exclusivity to that list too!
Check out this article from Eater. It has all the juicy details about this epic feast.
🔫 BTC Battle Royale
Someday, there will be a popular game involving some kind of cryptocurrency. I don’t mean a niche like Cryptokitties. I mean Fortnite popular. Why?
There are video games that become addicting and go viral - like Overwatch, Fortnite, or Animal Crossing.
People love making fast and easy money. For example, the current Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing has a very healthy third party economy that has popped up on Etsy.
What if you could play an online Shooter and make digital cryptocurrency? That’s the idea behind Lightnite.io, an early access Battle Royale. I have no idea if this will achieve any kind of mainstream popularity - but you never know. This could be the “killer BTC app” we’ve all been waiting for.
Here’s the trailer.
Looks pretty intriguing! The idea of earning BTC in-game to spend on digital goods has always been an intriguing concept to me. Is it possible one could make a decent living just off virtual economies? Some people are already doing it - but could this kind of job go more mainstream?
Only time will tell! Anyway, check out the official website for Lightnite at the link.
🚀 Retro Cyberpunk “VirtuaVerse”
Here’s another really neat game - but this one will take you back to the old days of games - back when everything was 8-bit. It’s called VirtuaVerse and it’s a Cyberpunk game full of nostalgia, Dystopian Commentary, and those crazy logic puzzles that take forever to figure out. (Honestly, I don’t really miss those. Those things drove me nuts when I was little).
As soon as I watched the trailer, I was reminded of all the old Game Boy Advance Games I used to play so many years ago. It also looks like CyberPunk but the one made for Game Boy. 🤣 Remember when they used to make games for all the platforms?
Good - but weird times.

🐎Meeting in Red Dead Redemption
Bored of Zoom Calls? Why don’t you switch things up and meet around the campfire in Red Dead Redemption Online. That’s what Viviane Schwartz and her editing team did. 😁 This is just the first message - click on it to read the whole thread. Trust me, it’s worth your time.
🐱💻Finding out Peoples IP addresses
I knew something like this existed, but had never taken the time to actually check it out. Grabify is a tool for creating links that track your IP address - and thus your location. This is also another reason NEVER to click on random links that people you don’t know or trust send you.
Check out Grabify at the link and test it on yourself.
🎵 The Eternal Jukebox
This website will play the same song forever, creating a never-ending and ever-changing version as it goes. It also works with Spotify, so you can enter your favorite song and listen to it forever. I’ll be honest - this website is going on my shortlist for when I have to crank out a lot of work. Can you imagine pranking someone with this?
Here’s an eternal version of “Llama in my Living Room” by Aronchupa. I’ve listened to it for 10 minutes so far and it’s still going.
Help. 🤣
📘 An Aesthetic Coffee Table Book
Don’t get a boring Coffee table book - get an Aesthetic Vaporwave one that’s the physical manifestation of a lofi hiphop station. It’s called “Deamscapes and Artificial Architecture.” It looks awesome.
